In January 2018, this ground beef patty manufacturer approached Summit Refrigeration Group with a request for a design/build refrigeration system for a new Ready to Eat (RTE) facility, to include cooling and air quality control of the raw material storage, raw formulation, cooking, RTE packaging, RTE pack-off, product storage and loading dock areas. In addition, Summit was asked to perform the steam and condensate piping work to various process equipment. There were some challenges though, which included an engine room location in a corner of the building with significant pipe run distances to major refrigeration loads, a very tight completion schedule and a very tight construction site for all the trades to work in. Coupled with the wettest spring on record in Norcross and the typical hot Georgia summer, the head construction company and all the trades had their hands full making up for the time that Mother Nature decided to take from the schedule. The design also included the ability to add a 2nd spiral freezer in the future.
