Founded in 1987 as a Chicago neighborhood bakery, the success of this world-class baked goods supplier, required a need for additional capacity to meet customer demand. The construction firm handling this project approached Summit Refrigeration Group with a request for a design/build refrigeration system for a bakery process to be installed within an existing spec building that had been completed just months earlier. Challenges within this project included an engine room location on the opposite end of the building of the major refrigeration load, an existing building with refrigerated spaces within the building shell, and a very tight completion schedule of up and running in only 6 months. The design was to also include the ability to add the second and third baking lines in the near future.
